Many of you have commented on my captions and my use of color. The captions rely on a cognitive process, whereas color is more of a conduit for pure emotion.
Thus the intellect/emotion dichotomy is at work in these pages.
Music combined with pictures offers another experience entirely. Music, I think, more than visuals, is the direct mirror of the soul. It stirs up emotion in an unparalleled way. It has a searing effect and can penetrate to the very core of existence.
My goal in the video was to present something that did not seem like a slide show. I wanted something more cinematic. Keep in mind that I have only the most rudimentary video editing tools. The three elements at play are images, captions and music. It's quite interesting to see, in the editing process, how all the parts can synergistically come together. The short film, about the Sargasso Sea, is only one minute long. If you care to comment on any aspect of it, I would be very happy to read your thoughts.
I'll return to my regular picture blog on Tuesday. I also want to take the opportunity to wish a happy fourth of July to all my American friends.
