Frangipani

The evening air, redolent of Frangipani blossoms, excites my dull senses. Energized, I plan to save the world of its unalloyed follies, or, in a more sober icy blue heartbeat, I resign myself to coordinating my steps with the undulations of the rain soaked grass. My penury of will, induced from the relentless patina of indifference, is gently transmuted by strengthening sojourns under rapturous trees.

  1. Hi Prospero, love the sublime frangipani; I think it was the first of all the tropicals that caught my heart with its endurance of flowers and its wonderful fragrance. You describe it so well with your feelings.
Every flower with its caption is spot on. It is a pleasure to see all your varieties and your thoughts and imagination about them.
On "this and that" I have a post about Billy in "Pet Pride" you might like to post your cutie.
Now I come to your question; No, I was never so lucky to see a Tillandsia setting seed and growing small new plants at its ends. Could you post it? Bromeliads, like Vriesias etc. sometimes set seed but they usually are gone with the wind!

  3. Once again a fabulous collection of photographs. Your titles are sometimes mysterious, I like that! 'Wind on my back' is very funny. The Frangipani is beautiful.
Hope your corn is ok with all that rain.

  4. Love your paragraph!

I like coordinating my footsteps with undulations of grass, or patches where there is no clover.

  5. The Frangipani are delightful. They kind of look like oleanders, but two-toned and the petal edges curl up. I wonder if I can grow them. I also love the cave myth, Angelina in the wind and TT, WOW!

  11. I just don't know where you come up with all the amazing things to photograph. You do such a wonderful job of it. I love the spiky pineaple looking plant and the white/yellow ones the best. The first shot looks like white chocolate candy with lemon coating. I could eat it! Christopher Columbus is great too. Your blog is so entertaining. Thanks for your nice comment on mine. I am happy all around! :)

  13. Prospero, I like frangipani. The flower always never fail to cheer me up. Every time when I see them in nursery I am so tempted to get one. But my garden just couldn't fit in one. I would like save some room space for my other plants to grow and add more plants later (I like to have varieties!). Btw, I just bought my first carnivorous plant, a pitcher plant called Sarracenia soper last weekend as I was at a highland market place. I am exciting to see how this plant will grow. Have a wonderful day!

  18. Those frangipani look glorious, not something we see here but I'd love to see one in the flesh some day.

'Wind on my back' is a very familiar image. Living beside the sea in Scotland, our paps do 'windswept and interesting' on a regular basis.

  29. Oh oh.. yes it is Sarracenia Juthatip Soper ;-( Now I have to think more of this guy. I just put some ice on it (watering it slowly) after reading your comment. I think I should not be overly excited about it anymore... lesser expectation of it is better then he he... TQ for the quick tip ;-D

  33. Noted your advice! TQVM! Sphagnum peat moss is not easy to find here. While I look for it, I think I will use coconut fibre first and a much bigger pot to keep the roots cool. Also, I will make sure it is kept moist/wet. The current little pot does come with sphagnum moss though (not sure whether if is sphagnum peat moss or not). Oh, btw, I placed the plant undershade with indirect sunlight during late afternoon as I think the hot sun here will easily scorch the plant. Cheers :-D

  34. Noted and will soak and rinse the coconut fibre really well and pot with drainage surely. TQVM for the generous welcome :-D

  36. Beautiful shots!
I'm a frangipani lover, but we don't have them here so, when I was travelling through Burma, I collected two cuts and brought them with me. One died, but the other grew too much to be on my terrace and I had to offer it to a friend. Now it lives happily in her big garden and has already bloomed.
