Bill

Hurricane Bill is scheduled to brush by my home on the Isle of Devils. Such are the vagaries of living on a subtropical island. At the moment, all is calm, but things worsen rather quickly once the storm makes its final approach.

Hurricane. What hurricane?

Shutters

Candles

  18. The Shutters and Candles photographs are lovely. In Mozambique I had several cyclones pass by and first there is this silence, and then the noise approaching. For me, the sound it makes as it approaches is the terrifying part. I hope you will be safe and there is no damage to your property. Please bring the little dog inside.

  22. I hope you will be safe and you have no property damage. I just saw on a map today that Bill is headed toward Maine, where my son lives. He has a home off the shore of Acadia National Park. I hope your little dog and you are going to be ok.

  32. Trevor, thank you for your concern. The storm caused very minimal damage in Bermuda and ended up in Maine (where, sadly, a seven year old girl drowned as a direct result of Bill). I'd ask you to think about that family, presently, for their grief will be difficult to bear.

  33. I hope Bill doesn't do too much damage.
    I love the candles!

  34. Sometimes the worst thing about a hurricane is the waiting. Often it is impossible to know where or when it is going to hit until the last minute. We've had several head up the east coast and out to sea, only to stop turn around and come right at us.

I don't like them at all! But it looks like you have been spared. Right?

  35. Glad to hear you're okay. I was a bit worried when I saw it was days since your last post.
By the way, I loved the shutters :D

I'm so glad to know Bill has caused minimal damage over there, but I feel so sorry for the little girl...
