Voodoo Lilies

This is Amorphophallus paeoniifolius. A voodoo lily. It has a very luxuriant foliage and a beautiful umbrella shape. Its tuber is a food source.

This plant just shot up last week. Already, it is a very attractive plant. The next photograph is a little shocking. The quality is poor (I think I took it with a video camera in a previous incarnation). Nonetheless, it does show how outrageous these plants look in full bloom. The plant is Amorphophallus konjac. It has not bloomed for me in several years. I'm not even sure if I haven't lost it, since it has not sprung up from the ground yet. Perhaps it's just waiting for a little more rain.

My sister gave me an assortment of these bone proverbs. This is one of them.
